Beyond the first horizon

Perivista is a community of leadership and thought.
We maintain peripheral vision to help leaders and curious minds see the next horizon and understand the world and its future.

What we do

The Perivista Podcast

Coming Soon is our podcast, a 10-minute format modeled on the briefings provided to senior ministers. Clear, concentrated, concise.

Our ‘By Invitation’ series are more conventional podcasts. People who know what they’re talking about consider a topic that receives less attention than it deserves.

The Second Horizon

Our core product is our ‘Second Horizon’ series. A regular dispatch where we connect events to the forces that shape them - leading with demography, democracy and data.

We link events to the underlying constraints that shape our lives.  For us that’s demography (and geography), democracy (and its rivals), and data - the currency of the information age.

The French historian Ferdinand Braudel called these the “conjunctures” of history. These are the hinges where the slower, deeper processes of history shape and constrain the events we see day by day. They are often overlooked - and yet have profound explanatory power.

Understanding how these deeper processes shape events and the choices we face is the ‘Second Horizon’ - going beyond what we see immediately, to really look beyond.
